Bryan grew up in Chatham, N.J., and lived in New Jersey through high-school. He then attended Duke University and graduated in 1980 with a concentrated study in Psychology, and an A.B. degree in Religion. After a brief stint as a steel salesman in St. Louis, MO, Bryan then earned his Masters of Divinity degree at Princeton Theological Seminary. Bryan then ventured to northern Wisconsin, where he was called and ordained to serve as the solo pastor of the Highland Lakes parish of the United Church of Christ for nearly four years. Though untrained in any classical sense (Bryan plays and composes mostly by ear), music has always been a major part of his life. He began writing his own lyrics and composing music during his early teens, and after experiencing a Christian conversion at age seventeen, began writing songs which were expressive of his Christian experience. In the Spring of 1987, after a great deal of prayer and soul searching, Bryan decided that God was calling him into a full-time ministry of music. Bryan left his parish at the end of October 1987, and established "Crosswind Ministries." He describes Crosswind as an "itinerant ministry of music, teaching, and preaching," and he spends the majority of his time composing, giving concerts of his original music in churches, leading retreats and pilgrimages, and preaching or otherwise leading worship in different congregations. Bryan has also worked as part-time staff for Ministry of Money (an organization affiliated originally with the Church of the Saviour in Washington, D.C. which focuses on trying to help Christians live out biblical teachings regarding the use of money and resources), and for a new ministry called Harvest Time (an organization which works with persons of exceptional wealth and attempts to help them become free to move their financial resources in response to the leading of God's Spirit -- More information about Harvest Time can be found at www.HarvestTime.cc). Bryan's music is diverse in style, ranging from gentle congregational choruses, to rousing upbeat material for teens, to fun interactive songs for young children. His concerts and worship services always involve a good deal of audience participation, as well as providing thought provoking music and spoken reflections. Bryan currently has nine solo recordings available: Wise As Serpents - Gentle As A Dove -- released in March of 1989 and 1990; Come As U R! -- released in September of 1991; Bryan Sirchio: Live In Concert! -- released in November of 1991; a children's CD called Bugs For Lunch! -- released in February of 1992; Artist's Hand -- released in January of 1995; Justice and Love -- released in October of 1999; words to the Song... -- released in April 2001; another children's CD, Worms In The Bread!, released in October of 2003; and his latest CD J-Walking: Songs For Justice Walkers, released in 2004. Some of Bryan’s music is also available in song books, and study guides are available to go along with 4 of his recordings. The study guides and activity resources have been specifically created to turn Bryan's music into Christian education resources. Bryan currently makes his home in Madison, WI.
